Think travelodge and you wont be dissapointed Staff efficient although not over friendly rooms small so try to upgrade to deluxe room well worth it Breakfast is continental with plenty of choice. Lunch and dinner consists of Soups Salad bar and a couple of hot dishes, great value for less than a tenner. Dissapointed with Bars happy hour which only covers the draught beer. Walk into centre around 20 mins. Overall good budget hotel and no hesitation in recommending

The best thing about my stay was...

Good Hotel

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room, although small, was adequate (how much time do you spend in a hotel room when on holiday anyway) and had the best shower I have ever experienced!! Breakfast was good and was kept well stocked by the staff, and the tables were cleared and cleaned promptly. The hotel is a short stroll from the city centre, even in the snow and ice it was only 20-25 minutes to the church, but is far enough out from the main city lights to be able to see the Northern Lights (saw them literally overhead the hotel on three nights). Basically if you are looking for a budget hotel in a good location with friendly staff you can't really go wrong.

The best thing about my stay was...

The awesome shower, and looking out the window watching the Northern Lights dance.

The Cabin Hotel Reykjavik

The hotel is excellent value, clean and well-run. The evening dinner, at around £8.00 per head (Dec 2012) is probably the best value in Reykjavik. If you are staying for more than one night then I suggest you book the DeLuxe room. There's not much space in a standard room to store large suitcases, and there's less than 0.75m between the beds to move about with two people! The bathrooms are very good with excellent showers and lots of hot water. The walk into the centre of the city is 20-minutes brisk walk, but nice in good weather alongside the waterfront.

The best thing about my stay was...

The view across the bay to the mountains beyond

Comfort and Convenience at an affordable budget

The staff both at the reception and at the restaurant are very helpful and very pleasing. They always advised about local knowledge and shared some good travel tips with maps and directions. They also offered good suggestions for tours and travel as they would. The room itself was quite small with two double beds but had good lighting, good view(sea view) and was thoroughly clean. The room was done every single day we went out for excursion. The hotel has a very comfortable lounge with comfy sofas to site and relax. Strongly recommended if you are looking for a good place in the downtown Reykjavik

The best thing about my stay was...

View from the hotel window.

Weekend break

We were quite happy with our room which was a superior room, so with good space, a bath in the bathroom, armchair etc. We were on the 7th floor but there is a lift. Breakfast was fine but more fruit than just sliced oranges would have been good, as well as fruit juice rather than orange and apple squash. The hotel is located slightly outside the centre of town, abt 30-40 mins away on foot or a few minutes by car.

The best thing about my stay was...

Great room (a superior room)

Hotel is AMAZING!

Stayed here from 17-22 May 2012. We booked the superior room through alpharooms and was surprised at how cheap it was! £140 for 5 nights double superior on the 7th floor with views of the bay and the sunset each evening. Bargain. Our floor had its own breakfast room which was included in the price as was the internet. The room was hard to fault although it had no bath but with one of Icelands largest spa's about 400m away that was not a problem. (Note the deluxe rooms which are the next category DOWN do have baths!). The room was clean with fresh towels every morning and tea/coffee etc... The hotel provides a salad buffet every day which is well worth the money and I recommend you try it once. There is a hamburger joint a few hundred meters down the road if you need something more substantial. The hotel location is about half a mile from the main street but dont let this put you off at all as everything is walking distance and there is a bus stop outside just in case. The hotel has a bar and a gift shop and are very popular. The reception staff/bar staff and the catering staff are extremely friendly and ver very helpful. The hotel owns its own car for rental for about £35 per day! However, if you are going on tours or even to the airport they will ALL pick you up at the hotel which is why the location of this hotel I found to be more ideal. Overall, I struggle to see how this hotel is only classed as a 3*!!!! It is very peaceful with amazing views. Check it out! Alpharooms have found a real gem of a hotel!

The best thing about my stay was...

The location! Not downtown but in a better location.

great place, good location, good price, excellent food

The first night was excellent - we got a room better than he was ordered. Iceland has the hotels other than the rest of the continent. Do not expect luxury, because here it is important to nature and people. In this context, this hotel is very good! The second night could be difficult. Then he came to the hotel a large group. We had a second book, but we were asked to change the hotel. Hotel which was in the proposal is an excellent hotel in the city center, the main square, in a beautiful location, the hotel which was very expensive and we do not we paid nothing more. In addition, we received an invitation to dinner. It was very nice and professional.

The best thing about my stay was...

In Iceland it is difficult for a good & cheap hotel - do not be afraid to choose Cabin Reviews - this is a good choice

Good hotel for that price

Advantages: Good food, really nice and helpful service, clean and warm rooms, not far to the city center (app. 15-20 min. of walk). Disadvantages: very slow lift ;) and internet was more broken than working. If you don't like small rooms, it may be a bad choice for you (I didn't bother).

The best thing about my stay was...

Can recommend Cabin Hotel as a good for that price if we talk about Icelandic standards. Enjoyed it!
