how can i put this, wel less than 24hrs before going i received a call from alpharooms saying the hotel was overbooked and i was being moved to another, the new hotel, although lovely, was on the edge of the famous strip,a place i didnt want to be with all its madness.i wanted the original one i booked as its a nice quite and reserved area, ultimately my holiday was ruined and would never book this place again.ther sister hotel that they moved mt to, the pedra dos bicos, did exactly the same to a group of 6 irish couples that arrived one evening, they had actually booked 6 hotel rooms and were told the hotel was full,so they wer put into the apartments, but they wer given only three apts that accomodated 4 each, yet as i said they had booked rooms in the hotel as couples, whoever owns these two complexes clearly have no issues about overbooking, stay clear of both as u may not get what u want,i know i will be seeking advice and i also know the others from ireland will be doing the same

Lovely apartment

Just stayed here for a long weekend and found it to be a lovely relaxing complex. We were lucky in that we got an apt on the top floor with a fab view of the pool/sea from our front door. Our large balcony at the back overlooked the countryside. Apt was nice and clean and airy inside but could have done with a new fridge. Pool area was lovely and green with well kept gardens. Plastic beds were short of mattresses but as we left it appeared these were avail for 2 euros. Just across from the apt were some steps down to the beach and only a short walk up a pleasant lane to the many restaurants. Would definitely recommend. Restaurants - Fratellis/3Maria/O'calherio - all excellent.

Having read some reviews on Trip Advisor, I wasn't sure what to expect when we stayed here, but when we went for coffee at the airport on the way out, we got talking to the lady serving us and she told us she had stayed here three times, and really enjoyed it, so that set my mind at rest. The apartments are built on a circular plan so each apartment is wedge-shaped. One block faces inwards over the pool and another block faces outwards over the land. The third block is the single-storey bar, restaurant and reception area. The place is managed by Algarve Resorts who also have Quinta Pedra dos Bicos in Albufeira. They only own about half the apartments, the others are privately owned. The beach is only a short walk away down about 75 shallow steps, I went for a swim one evening at sunset and it was bliss. Quite a busy beach during the day. It's a 10 or 15 minute walk into Olhos d'Agua centre for supermarkets, there is also an Intermarche 10 minutes walk away. The main road for buses is several hundred yards away too, but taxis are cheap. We found the staff to be very friendly, and the apartment was very clean. A lot of the appliances such as the microwave and toaster looked brand new. The washing machine was much appreciated, although ours broke (the catch on the door broke). They took it away and gave us a different one that same day. Likewise when I reported a bulb out on the balcony, a new one was put in straightaway. A fair bit of money seems ot have been spent on revamping these apartments and the outside is now painted in an attractive terracotta colour. The gardens were beautiful and very well-maintained, and the swimming pool was great for a swim in the early evening each day. Our apartment overlooked the pool so it was very handy. We only used the snack bar once but they were not well-stocked and about the only thing available was English breakfast which arrived cooked in some dirty fat. The bar was extremely quiet all the time, so if you're looking for some nightlife this is not the place for you. But for a quiet and relaxing stay it was very pleasant. We had 16 nights here but most people seemed to be on short breaks: the clientele was mixed, some young couples, older couples, young families, British, Irish, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Spanish etc. The TV had only 3 or 4 English channels, all news, but loads of German channels! It's worth noting that there is no heating or air-con in the apartments, apart from an open fireplace in the lounge. So if you're going in winter maybe better take lots of jumpers!

A really good find.

Just returned from the Maria Luisa, November 09, and it was great, lovely apartment and pool area. Very quiet, but that's what we like. Yes, there are a lot of steps down to the beach, but it is worth it. Beautiful sand and clear water. But you do need a car, no restaurant open within walking distance (not in November). Plenty places to eat within a 5 min. drive. Try The 3 Marias, it was really nice and good value. Worth a walk to the beach at Olhos da Agua, about a 10 min. walk, and watch the fisherman coming in. We will return to the Maria Luisa.

stayed here for a week in july 08 these are nice apts well equiped even has a washing machine in each appartment, nice pool . a steep walk down steps to the beach, but you can acess the main olhos dagua beach without the steps about 10 mins walk.my only gripes are for me it was too quiet in the evenings no one at the bar but there are lots of excellent bars a short walk away like the cabana bar and whynot .lastly the apartments could do with an upgrade ,they are spotless clean but some paint would freshen them up if your looking for peace and quiet ,no loud music this is the spot for you

We had a fantastic relaxing week here. Very friendly staff, spacious room, well equipped kitchen, great pool and gym. Fantastic views next to a fabulous beach. Quiet but just what we wanted Great base for seeing the Algarve and taking walks into the orange groves.
