10/10 Amazing

11 July 2018

Amazing spotlessly clean fun resort in a perfect location and beautiful setting.

Stayed here for 7 nights and can honestly say I wish I had stayed even longer. Spotlessly clean from the moment we arrived until the day we left. Staff always around and there to assist should it be needed. Arranged a birthday cake to be made on my husbands birthday and given to him in the restaurant that evening for a very small cost. Restaurant was great, plenty of space and tables and chairs for everybody . Food choice was fantastic , something for everybody at all meal times and so much variety that we were spoiled for choice. Restaurant and Kitchen staff friendly and always there and cleaning up tables and areas . Pool areas had more than enough sunbeds for everybody so no need to rush down and reserve them with towels. Pool bar had plenty variety and a fantastic lunch for all with burgers chips and pizza available. Ice cream served for 2 hours in the afternoon which was lovely. Rooms - we stayed in a deluxe family suite and had a amazing view of the lagoon and gardens . Evening entertainment was fab for all ages and we went every evening to watch the shows . Kids enjoyed a boogie before the entertainment. Everybody was so welcoming it really did feel like we had gained new friends by the time we had left. can not recommend this beautiful resort enough. We had an amazing time . 2 adults , 3 children

Garcia

Beautiful hotel huge rooms good service beautiful views . We had a wonderful week . Minor issues were they need to run a free mini coach every 2 hours to olu deniz as too far to walk the drinks in the nightclub should be free ! Also the spa manager was very pushy so off putting !

Definitely not 5* - highly disappointed.

We travelled as a family of 4 and stayed for 2 weeks at the end of August 2015. Out expectations were not that high having read some reviews on tripadvisor. The cleanliness was poor, we had to ask repeatedly for our rooms to be cleaned, sheets to be changed and for towels. The food was the most basic I have experienced in Turkey (even compared to some 3* hotels) entertainment was low budget compared to other hotels and the dining tables were never cleared for new diners, we had to go in search for cutlery every evening. Drinks were ok and the pools were lovely, never had a problem finding a sunbed, the views were amazing and the beds were comfy, it's a little of the beaten track, had to get taxis to go out at night but we did know that before we travelled, however if you don't know the area then this is not made clear before you travel. This hotel definitely has potential and with new management, a better quality of cleaners, more helpful staff and better food then this hotel could easily reach the 5* status they are portraying. As it stands at the moment though do not go to this hotel with any higher expectations than 3*

The best thing about my stay was...

The area outside the hotel

10 September 2014

Ambitious but poorly realised

We spent the last two weeks of August 2014 at the Garcia Resort, myself, my wife and our 9 year old daughter. Our arrival was late evening and our room card had two numbers crossed out before the allocated room was written in, evidence of the jockeying of rooms referred to in other reviews. Our room turned out to be a good size with enormous balcony, situated in the top block. We'd asked for a sea view, but the hotel is so far up in the mountain that only a sliver of sea is visible through trees at best. It's size and position were very acceptable, however, and as we heard the horror stories of damp rooms further down the complex we became even happier with our situation. On check in we were told the basic times of breakfast and lunch and a light supper available at midnight. This latter was non-existent and there was no information pack in the room to give details of amenities in the resort, timings etc., not even a telephone directory so that you could telephone the desk. A simple but significant oversight. The pool area and bar is good with four pools and a children's paddling pool. The four pools are all a uniform 1.4m deep with no steps or ramps, so not ideal for children too big for the paddling pool but not confident swimmers. The bar is circular, but only half of it is used by at most three staff. They are hard pushed at busy times, but if treated courteously we never had a real problem getting served. Certainly none of the drinks were watered down and a good selection was available. The Garcia has two fundamental problems that resulted in its "Poor" rating. The first was the food, particularly in the main restaurant. On a couple of nights we managed to find something that we could eat, but after a couple more nights when we could not we went down into Oludeniz or to Hisaronu to eat. I'm not sure what style or nationality the food was trying to be. Not really Turkish, although the donors could be called Turkish I suppose. But the spits weren't motorised so the chef cooked them one side at a time, squeezing the grease out by hand when serving the meat. The puddings consisted of ice cream or fruit, nice and difficult to make a mistake here, and Turkish cakes, very colourful but tasteless and bland. The snack bar by the pool is repetitive, donors again, nice pizzas and frozen burgers. Adequate for a snack. The second issue is the hotel's design and build quality. It is an ambitious project, carved out of a mountainside above Oludeniz. Unfortunately, the architects haven't specced materials correctly and Turkish workmanship isn't up to building rooms beneath swimming pools or jacuzzi pools. There are marble steps around the pool areas lacking in anti-slip grips, and glass panelled screens on balconies and stairways that are cracked or missing altogether. The main staircase down to the pool area also lacks a banister. The glass could be replaced, anti-slip grips put in place, but the rooms in the lower blocks with damp problems will be a more difficult problem to fix.
