Hotel Globales Simar

The first impressions of the hotel were that it looked attractive, clean and tidy however on arrival the guests in front of us complained about the room they had been offered describing it as a cupboard, we then saw the clerk change their room to the one allocated to ourselves. He then proceeded to offer us the "cupboard" which we declined we were then offered another room on the second floor, the room itself was fine but the lift rarely worked which meant a climb of nearly seventy stairs, my wife has an arthritic hip and we had requested a room with a seaview on a lower floor. We overlooked the swimming pool and nearly every night we were disturbed by young people jumping into the pool in the early hours of the morning and shouting. The food was not brilliant but we coped with that as best we could. We would definitely not stay at this hotel again.

The best thing about my stay was...

The hotel is situated in a pleasant area.

Simar Hotel

The rooms were clean with beautiful views across the bay and the staff were helpful, however we were surprised that as half board guests drinks were not included with our breakfast and evening meal. We hadn't read that they weren't included when booking our rooms. This should be made clear to potential guests. Our two adjoining rooms for a family were also above the evening disco/function room which wasn't ideal with young children as the heavy beating and loud music were very disturbing when we all needed to sleep. There was also loud music played by other guests at 6am in the morning. There was a nice selection of breakfast food and the evening meals were okay, a little the samey each evening.

The best thing about my stay was...

The view of the bay and cliffs.

spot on!

Hotel traditional (1970's) spanish but ok.hotel split into various accommodation blocks. ours was across the road and we had to climb a flight of stairs with our luggage before we got to the lift! food great, staff great, particulary the restaurant staff. Lots of steps/stairs around the hotel and the resort. 3 coves within 2 mins walk. great for snorkeling. beach shoes recommended as its quite rocky. couple of reasonably priced bar/restaurants. couple of shops.we had one week all inclusive and felt it was good value for money. Almost forgot to mention ....... inflateables (lilo)are not allowed in the pool, but it didnt stop our child or any of the kids from having a great time. also there is the usual problem of not enough sunbeds around the pool, but the beach is only steps away to lay your towel out on.

The best thing about my stay was...

The pretty coves

Simar Hotel - mostly good

Really nice hotel, but let down by:1.lack of evening entertainment (made worse by the fact that Cala San Vicente is a very quiet resort) 2. Too few sunbeds available. 3. Some tired areas e.g. well worn / thread-bare stairs carpet.

The best thing about my stay was...

Food was really nice. You can always find something you like

Great food great location

Spent a lovely week at the Simar with our 4 young children. Food and service fantastic, rooms basic but large and clean. Location great if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday and very pretty scenery, although we found the steps and hills hard work with the pushchair! Overall a great holiday we would happily recommend the Hi Simar Hotel to friends and family.

Lovely relaxing holiday

We had a lovely relaxing holiday, 2 adults and 2 17 year old exhausted A level students. Beaches are fantastic, food very good staff polite ,helpful and caring. Entertainment not to intrusive but there if you wanted to join in. Not good for people with mobility concerns, but great for exercising off the food.

The best thing about my stay was...

The views and beaches

Very good value

Excellent value for money. Lovely little spot whith 3 super bays....all different in someway. Food was very good, plenty of choice and didn't see the same thing all week. Drinks were all good and staff were sound. 3 star for the hotel would be about right in my opinion but I would certainly rate the food higher.

excellent, clean friendly hotel

Set on the main street, this hotel offers a spotlessly clean, spacious modern room with balcony. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast and evening meals are well prepared and presented, giving a very good choice of hot and cold options and served in a clean dining room. Drinks prices are also reasonable. Most nights there is evening entertainment in the hotel bar, or otherwise there are a handful of bars in the resort for a quiet drink.

.

Stayed at Hi Simar for a week and enjoyed every minute of it, lovely clean rooms, lovely food and friendly staff. The weather was beautiful and made the holiday even better. The village was quiet but just nice, I recomend the Irish Pub this was just up the road from the hotel the staff were very friendy and the food was nice too. We used a few of the free buses also to Alcudia and Pto Pollenca where has a lovely Marina and a good Market. I would recomend this hotel to anyone and would definatly go back again.

Excellent

First time at the hotel but it was excellent value. We went half-board but would definitely advise going full board as it works out better value when you consider buying drinks and going out for lunch. The resort was very quiet and if you have a few days of rain then there is not much to do locally. The rooms are basic but cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a courtesy bus on most days which takes you to other resorts. The food was excellent. A buffet style service but there was plenty of choice. It is great for toddlers and the pool is very safe with a lifeguard on duty each day. If you are making your own way to the hotel from the airport then a taxi costs 75 Euros eachway so it would be cost effective renting a car. There is also a nice walk through the hills from the hotel to Porta Pollenza. It takes around 40 mins. Great for a week or weekend. Great value and would recommend.

Heaven

Our 3rd time in Cala San Vicente after many many years to Peurto Pollensa. A peaceful, relaxing holiday in wonderful scenery. We always hire a car as there are so many nice villages to visit in the area. Simar Hotel does exactly what it says on the tin! My opinion don't pay more for Mollins or Riu and def don't go to Don Pedro if you are a couple. Be aware top floor rooms have noisy generator thingy on the roof above them, we exchanged to 1st floor no problem. Food and service very good and the hotel is spotlessly clean. Clientele mostly couples from all over Europe, lots of Spaniards which was nice. For that very late night drink the Cafe Mariner is the place (above Spar shop) run by a very pleasant and efficient brother and sister team.

Beautiful, Unspoilt.

Loved everything about it! Was a bit unsure because I love long sandy beaches but I was won over by snorkeling in the three beautiful coves with crystal clear waters. I was also worried it would be very crowded in high season, but it was not at all. We did rent a car, and drove to Porta Pollensa which is a lovely nearby town along a sandy beach. Beautiful restaurants there with tables out on piers into the water. Also gorgeous drives alng the coast to the lighthouse and fort - breathtaking views. Hotel Simar was lovely, we felt the all inclusive was excellent value, and it was great to have the run of the two hotels, Simar is quiet and relaxing, Don Pedro is livelier and more for families who need kids clubs and that. The hotel was kept very clean and I thought the variety on the buffet was fine - it was such good value that we did not mind spending money on lunch out in Pollensa and Alcudia a couple of days. All inclusive for us was €344 each for 7 days - we like our beer and so were very happy with that. We had a lovely sea view from our balcony. Great for couples and families, not good for gals or guys on the prowl. Would recommend a car to go sightseeing or to neighbouring villages as Cala Vicente itself is very small.

Review of 'SIMAR HOTEL and APARTMENTS'

Spent a week here September 2006, half board, cost less than 250GBP. Excellent value for money! Both the resort and the hotel were very quiet, ideal for that relaxing getaway holiday. Our initial room allocation was not to our liking but this was changed immediately we requested. Linen was changed regularly, the hotel was generally very clean throughout, although there were a few ants crawling around in places, but this is to be expected.

The staff in Reception, in the restaurant and in the bar, were all very friendly and spoke good English, they were all very helpful.

Food was varied, with a choice of English or continental breakfast (or both!) from the buffet. Dinner was varied also, there was a wide choice of salads, fruit, cold meats, cheese, cooked meats, vegetarian options and the desserts were delicious!

The only downside to this hotel and the area are that it is not really suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The hotel has steps leading to most of its amenities and there is not lift access to all the areas. The beaches are down a flight of steps or a walk down a steep slope.

The hotel pool is surrounded by sunbeds and there is an additional sunbathing area on another terrace. The pool does not have a children's area and the shallow end is not really suitable for young children.

Nearby there are three small beaches, set in coves, with a small expanse of sand, bathing is good here, but I would imagine it gets very crowded in summer. There is a lifeguard on duty too.

Nightlife is pretty much low key, if you want a rowdy night out then this is not the place to go. Entertainment in the hotel was usually a singer or guitarist, very good but some people might want something livelier.

Guests at the Simar can share in the facilities at the neighbouring hotel Don Pedro, but having ventured there on Saturday night and found a room filled with enthusiast Bingo players we gave that a miss!!!

There are several bars within a few minutes walking distance, which offer entertainment and television for those who want to spend their holiday in front of the box!

Shops in the resort consist of a couple of small supermarkets, a few gift shops and a couple of car hire places.

I would certainly return to this resort and stay at the same hotel, but it is not a place for teenagers or families with young children.

The Simar is great if you love quiet and relaxing- dont go if you want nightlife there isnt any!!! the simar is getting there on its refurbs- hopefully you will get a sea view- the best bit is the fantastic food served in the lovely spanish dining room or you on sit on the terrace- great for romantic honeymooners!! we love it and go back year after year-

the swimming pool area is ok with a sun terrace- the reception area is quiet and they have books for guests to borrow there is also a sun terrace which gets the sun all day and gets very very hot- this is not a holiday for a family wanting fun , and lots going on but for those wanting a lovely beach and lovely night time walks.
enjoy!!

Good clean hotel, food delicious and varied. We were impressed with the safety at the pool, there was a lifeguard on each day we were there.Easy access to the beach although it was down a number of steps so could be awkward for people with mobility problems. The aircon. was switched off in the early hours so we were uncomfortable on waking, we hired a fan from a nearby hire shop but we felt the aircon. should have been controlled by ourselves.A great holiday, we would certainly return.

Review of 'SIMAR & APARTMENTS'

My husband and I stayed at the Simar and had a fabulous apartment on the 2nd floor overlooking the beach - spacious, two bathrooms and kitchen area. The maid visited daily and we could not fault the service. There were only about 3 other couples staying at the Simar, so it was very quiet. The rental car was very useful and enabled us to get around the Island. We would certainly go back again! Trotters bar excellent tv screen and very friendly.
