Playa Del Ingles Holidays & Hotels

If you’re travelling to Gran Canaria and you’re looking for an action-packed holiday with year-round sun, Playa del Ingles might be the perfect option. Located on the southernmost part of the island, Playa del Ingles is the largest resort in Gran Canaria. With plenty of exciting things to do for families, large groups and couples, this particular feel-good resort in the Canary Islands is definitely popular with people across all backgrounds.

Hotels in Playa Del Ingles

With hotels ranging from cheaper two to more luxurious five star, there is something for absolutely every holiday budget when you visit Playa del Ingles. Most hotels will offer either room only, bed and breakfast, half and full board or fully inclusive, depending on the type of hotel you’re staying in. If you’re looking for privacy and a place away from all of the action, there are several private bungalows and villas located in the quieter streets of the resort.

Where to stay

Playa Del Ingles Beach

With 2.7km of golden sands, you can imagine there are a lot of hotels and apartments located near to be beach front. The most populated area, however, is on the side of the beach that heads towards San Agustin. With lively bars and restaurants lining the coastline, you can rest assured there are plenty of places for you to eat and drink during your holiday. For those looking for an adventurous stay, there are many diving, surf and wind boarding schools located along the promenade.

Dunes of Playa Del Ingles

One of the most popular visitor-sights in Playa Del Ingles is the gorgeous sand dunes that line the beach. Located on the far-end of Playa Del Ingles beach, these dunes span for miles and miles. Whilst you won’t find any hotels located in the National Park, there is plenty of accommodation within walking distance.

Yumbo Centrum

If you want to be in the heart of all the action when it comes to nightlife on your holiday, the Yumbo Centrum area is the best possible option. With the much-loved shopping centre and various options for evening entertainment within walking distance, you can easily spend every night exploring the excitement Playa Del Inges has to offer.

What to see

Before Playa del Ingles was a much-loved resort, it was a popular destination for the Playa del Ingles beach. The original beach still remains one of the island’s most unspoilt areas, with. 2.7km of gorgeous golden sands. If you’re looking to spend the day relaxing at the beach, there are plenty of sun loungers and parasols available for hire. Alternatively, you can walk along the promenade and enjoy the view with a drink.

For those that want a little bit of adventure on their Canary Island holiday, they can enjoy the many water sports opportunities Playa del Ingles has to offer. With its Atlantic-side location, the resort is in the ideal location for water sports lovers as there are various surf schools, scuba classes and windsurfing lessons available to be booked.

If you’re feeling lazy but still want to get on the water, there is also the option to hire a jet ski or take an enjoyable ride on the beach’s infamous banana boat.

Whilst staying in Playa del Ingles you also have the option to go a little further afield with the many boat trips that leave the harbour each day. On a good day, you will be able to see the bottlenose dolphins having the time of their lives, jumping in and out of the water around you. If you’re lucky, you may even get the chance to see some of the island’s famous whales breaching the water and shooting water out of their blowholes. Trips only cost around 30 Euros, and if you don’t see any whales or dolphins, you are guaranteed another trip for free.

If you are the adventurous type, you may want to consider a Jeep safari into the peaceful Valley of the Thousand Palms. This excursion is available from most Playa del Ingles resorts and definitely makes for a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the area. Your first stop will be in fascinating Fataga, a little pueblo filled with lots of tiny, independent craft shops. From there, your journey will continue by camel, exploring the vast patches of cacti and a miniature Grand Canyon like-experience.

Playa del Ingles is widely known as a lively resort with plenty of bards, clubs and restaurants making it one of the busiest resorts on the island. Most of the popular establishments are located in the Commercial Centres. However, you may find a number of hidden gems located on the resort’s main roads.

If you’re looking for an incredible evening experience visit the nearby Kasbah shopping centre, the Metro shopping centre or the Plaza de Maspalomas shopping centre. Plus, all of these venues are located within a couple of minutes of one-another.

What to eat

Playa del Ingles has rightfully earned its stripes as a brilliant summer getaway, but it’s also recognised for the unique cuisine available on the island. An enticing blend of Mediterranean flavours and Spanish spices, Canarian cuisine is exotic and tasty. The beachfront offers a sheer number of dining options, with views over the crystal blue sea. However, if you are looking to enjoy your evening meal in the mainland, head to the bustling street of Avenida de Tirajana – notable for restaurants serving freshly caught fish.

When visiting Playa del Ingles you may notice the city-like feel it has. With a bustling atmosphere and plenty of bars and restaurants lining the streets, it’s easy to see why visitors come from all over Europe. One of its most popular attractions, of course, is the incredible shopping opportunities the town has to offer. There are several shopping complexes for you to visit in the centre of town, including the ever-popular Kasbah Centre.

Playa Del Ingles has one of the best nightlife in Europe

Playa del Ingles has sunshine all year round, and the warmest during winter months in Europe. There is accommodation to suit all budgets and numerous good restaurants all over the place. Shopping is great too. Alcohol is very cheap.. drinks are never measured as singles or double.. they just pour into the glass to half full of spirit.. more like a triple or more!!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Yumbo centre nightlife

Tacky, cheap, hot, fun get away destination.

The town has zero cultural significance although 10 minutes drive north and you're in beautiful hills / mountains with great views and amazing towns and villages. The beaches are also fantastic although very busy.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Great for a week or so of fun and sand!!

Lively, very commercial large resort

Large mainly flat resort easy to walk around but beach is down a hill or down steps. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants clubs. Good taxi service. Good promenade. No history or tradition. Very commercial tourist resort.

Lively place

Always something to do, a lot of restaurants from cheap to luxus. Good shoping in the shopping centers, and better shopping in San Fernando, where you also can eat at places and be the only tourist. We like Yumbo best in evenings, Kashbah/Plaza have a lot of "inthrowers" they just wont leave you alone. Buses goes in all directions, so its easy to come around on the island. Cheap drinks and lot of happy hour offers.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Something to do even if its a rainy day.
