Son Baulo relaxing & can walk along prom to lively Can Picafort!

Stayed in Son Baulo which is 20min walk along the beautiful from from lively Can Picafort. Can Picafort has lots of shops, bars, restuarants to suit most people. Unfortunately, lots of English visit and if you want to experience culture and get away from the Brits this may not be the place for you. However, lots of bus stops everywhere to get away and explore other parts of the island if don't wish to hire a car etc. Resort is situated along the long beach and you can walk to get to quieter parts if you so wish.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Good selection of bars and resort right on the beach/prom.

Can Picafort

What an amazing place! It was my first time staying here, had a 4 day holiday. Palma de Mallorca is absolutely amazing and I couldn't choose more awesome place than Can Picafort. Beach is like in a dream. Sand, sun, crystal clear water with small fishes swiming around you. Whole place just felt so relaxed and so was I. Happy to got here and definitely will return again to Can Picafort!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Sandy beach and clean water.

Everything you need

We have been to Can Picafort many times and love the leisurely walks along the promenade between the beach and bars. This is more of a family friendly resort with bars, lovely beaches, shallow water in the bay for young children to play in the sea. The habour is definitely worth a walk past if boats are your thing and further down the promenade is the open air market on a Thursday. A short bus ride away will take you into the more lively town of Alcudia or Puerto Pollensa which is a larger resort with a larger harbour.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Views from the promenade are spectacular

Majorcan Gem

Lots of bars/restaurants along the promenade on the seafront and also in streets elsewhere in the town. Best bars Barracuda in the middle of town, good music, lovely cocktails, really friendly staff. Bar Sa Placa by the Guardia Civil office between C'an Picafort and Son Baulo (locals tend to use this so more Spanish, good for snacks and reasonably priced drinks). Tapas bars dotted thoughout, particularly good is the newly re-opened C'as Caminer (formerly the Crismar) near to the Mar Y Paz hotel on the road parallel to the promenade. Very reasonably priced tapas, our bill of 18euros with a litre of fruity Sangria and a beer left us stuffed and amazed at the price !! Beach is clean white sand and sea gently shelving so ideal for kids. Sometimes gets very breezy so watch the flags. Lifeguards at regular intervals and bars/restaurants aplenty along the promendade which now features a cycle track. Beach is wheelchair friendly with a new walkway and platform for wheelchairs with adjacent sunbeds. The resort is kept very clean and because it has a Spanish community caters for every need, e.g. supermarkets, shoe shops, hairdressers and even an ironmongers. The resort is not rowdy and tends to quieten down around midnight to 1am but nightowls can still get a drink.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Friendly locals, excellent beaches

Lovely Holiday Town

I loved Can Picafort, the beach is excellent with lots of shops and bars along the promenade. The prom is brilliant for cycling and all kinds of bikes can be hired. There was lots of watersport activity in the sea also. I used No Frills Excursions and booked a boat trip from Pollenca Port to Formentor which was brilliant, the coach picked us up from the hotel and it was a nice journey though Cala Muro and Alcudia before boarding the boat. The boat trip was so lovely with plenty of stops for swimming, lunch and fishing. Its probably much cheaper to stay in Can Picafort and do the boat trip than to stay in Porte de Pollenca etc

The best thing about my stay was ...

Lovely town and excellent base for exploring

Everyone of the locals I encountered were friendly and helpful. There is plenty of choices of food to cater for all tastes. Great tapas bars or your full english. Plenty of lively bars or clubs to visit or if you prefer a quiet spot to talk or whatever this can also be found.
