A marvellous destination, steeped in history

Granada, dominated by the world-famous Alhambra perched high on a hill with the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains behind it, is, without a shadow of doubt, one of the most beautiful and atmospheric cities in the world. Its world-class art and architecture are matched by great dining and drinking options, most at very reasonable prices for Europe. One can easily spend a week exploring its many attractions.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Wonderful location, stunning art & architecture, great food and drink

Great City

Lots of sightseeing available however this was our 3rd visit to Granada and we saw a different side to the city great for shopping, bars and restaurants. The people are so friendly. Would advise to move away from the main tourist areas for the best tapas bars.

lively, young and cheap!

Granada is an amzing city, there is tonnes on offer and lots to do. The city is vibrant with people, there is always a good crowd wherever you go and eating in the city is extremely cheap! In addition, the city has a lot of history and cultural places to visit, the Alhambra is not to be missed, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing as it is huge and took us mroe then 4 hrs to see most of it, there were still lots of parts of the Alhambra that we didn't get to see.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The free tapas given with every drink and the Alhambra palaces

A lively city made a must to visit in order to see the Alhambra.

Granada is a lively and vibrant city. The Alhambra is a must. We would also recommend a visit to the Science Park which is a really interesting place and excellent value for money. An excellent place for tapas is La Buena Vida on Almireceros - freindly owner and delicious food!

Manageable sightseeing

A compact city centre making sightseeing very manageable, especially with the frequent minibuses taking visitors up all the steep slopes to the Alhambra and the viewpoints opposite. One tip though, make sure you book your entrance ticket to the Alhambra well in advance at busy holiday times. A good holiday read would be 'The Return' by Victoria Hislop.

Granada is still very Spanish and a delight

Pretty city with good restaurants and shops. Lovely to walk around if you are mobile enough. Cathedral is spectacular. Didn't get in to the Alhambra because we didn't book. Good reason to go back.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Delightful squares and passageways.

We came primarily to visit the Alhambra and were not disappointed. We walked up to it in the early morning and back down late afternoon, though you can take a bus or taxi. Don't be put off by people who say you have to book months in advance - you don't. Just get there at opening time and pay at the entrance. It was not too crowded in early July as schools not yet on holiday and apparently Spanish people don't go then because of the 34 degree heat. Heat manageable because lots of shade trees, fountains and free drinking-water fountains. Granada otherwise lively and noisy. Good dining al fresco watching the world go by. Tourist guide in uniform very helpful with directions and parking.

Certainly worth a visit if in this area

Granada Palace is certainly worth visiting, would recommend booking tickets before your visit as it can be very busy in the summer season. Nice town to have a look round, found 2 days were adequate to get a feel of the city.
