good choice

We have wanted to visit Playa D Aro for some time, but we were put off be the lack of a coach transfer from either Barcelona or Girona Airports. We decided that our only option was to fly to Girona and book a private transfer to our hotel (H Top Caleta Palace) This is a very attractive holiday destination, with places to visit both North and South. Be aware that the local beaches consist of very coarse sand which your feet may take a few days to get used to, and it shelves very steeply into the sea. This may be a small price to pay for the beautiful scenery! The local bus service will take you other local resorts, and even Barcelona city. Should you be on a self catering basis, you will find dozens (perhaps hundreds!) of eateries in the resort.

The best thing about my stay was ...

a good location to explore this part of the coast

Green cycling route, great beach, friendly people

Playa De Aro is a good base to cycle from on the green route to Girona. You can get descent combi bikes for hire locally in town (enquire at the tourist information centre) Place is very clean and there are some great sculpture dotted a round the area. Enought local resturants and able to retain it's Catalan identity
