Short stay destination - good base for surrounding area

Nice city with old & new parts. The old city is much more interesting & appealing to the eye with nice small streets to wander through. Major label shopping in the new city along the Bahnhof. Situated on Lake Zurich gives the opportunity to take a boat trip down the lake with terrific views of the mountains and interesting small towns along the way. We were there in winter but would imagine that the lake & its shores come alive in summer with strollers & tourists. There are several museums and churches to explore but if that is not your interest, other than shopping & eating not much else to keep you occupied. There is a zoo but we did not visit. 2 to 3 days in the city would suffice & then would recommend moving on to some of the lovely places in the vicinity such as Engelberg, Lucerne.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Sprungli's hot chocolate! The lake boat trips & the old city.

Wonderful, stylish city with lovely old historic centre

Zurich is not only the famous financial and commercial heart of Switzerland, it is a fine historic city with a wealth of beautiful buildings and churches, all set on a river and lake and surrounded by mountains ... There are shops, cafes, restaurants and bars, theatres, art galleries, museums, concert halls and opera and whatever you wish to do is catered for. It is a very cosmopolitan city with a wide variety of people from many different countries and backgrounds. Large parts of the centre are pedestrianised, and there is a very efficient public transpot system connecting all parts of the city.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The river with all the old buildings beautifully preserved along its banks.
