Inverness in Scotland is known as the 'Highland Capital', it still retains its market town feel to it, dating back to its early development. Today tourism is a very important part of the economy, just a short drive to the world famous Loch Ness and its monster. There are also some fabulous local castles and heritage all within an easy drive of the capital.

In short, it has a lot going for it; something to please everyone whether you are an indoor or outdoor person, a shopper or a boozer, you will find something to please you. The locals are very friendly, have a good sense of humour and helpful.

What we saw of Inverness looked good, but we were unable to explore in the limited time we had due to heavy rain, The air port was refreshingly pleasant anda nice place to fly from/to, It is on our list to definately visit again

There is plenty around the area to go and see. It is a very small city but there is all you need to shop, eat etc. Hire a car is the best way to get around so that you are not restricted to any time via bus routes or trains

Pleasant, but not a lot to do or see.

Pleasant enough walking along the river (we got a sunny day!). It does seem to be a very windy city though, so wrap up even if the sun's out! Apart from the river, there's not a lot to do. We went to the museum (up by the castle) which was quite interesting about Scottish / Highland history, and a nice way to spend an hour or so. Best thing was the Hootananny pub with amazing (and very reasonably priced!) Thai food. Later on (from 9:30), a ceilidh band sat in the central table and played until late- was a great atmosphere.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Hootananny- great Thai food and fun folk music
