Ok'ish but could do better
Traveller Pete, U K
Like many travellers, the appeal of this hotel is its convenient location to Gatwick's South Terminal. Unfortunately on the evening we arrived, after some 6 hours road travel, the reception desk computers decided to go on a very very 'go slow'! It took some 45 mins+ to achieve check-in. Just what we needed! In fairness, we were offered live-saving cold drinks while waiting and a complimentary buffet-style dinner for 2, which was most welcomed. This may have been a one-off 'blipp'(?) but Hilton management need to have a Plan B ready to swing in to action in future if it is not to further damage its reputation at this particular hotel.
The best thing about my stay was...the complimentary dinner for 2

Pre flight stay, very convenient as it is attached to the south terminal although the room was very dated bathroom was a little old and we only had one pillow each. Restaurant in the hotel had very limited selection and overpriced. We walked through and ate in the airport. Would not stay here again.
The best thing about my stay was...Location

Pre-flight stay at Hilton
Henry S., Suffolk
An excellent price through Alpha rooms gave us a perfectly adequate room for the one night. The highlight was the excellent food and service in the hotel's "Amy's Restaurant".
The best thing about my stay was...The convenience for the airport.

One night stay at Hilton Gatwick
Lisa Walker, Brentwood, Essex
Lovely hotel. Rooms we clean and very comfortable. Excellent location with just a 5 min walk into Gatwick South Terminal, which is under cover. Also, has long and short stay parking. I would use again and would (have already recommended) highly recommend. Not as expensive as you would think. :)
The best thing about my stay was...Location, very close to terminal. Reasonably priced too.

Everything was second class as this hotel. We stayed at this hotel for a treat to celebrate our retirement for an onward flight the next morning. On arriving we quickly attended the restaurant as we had just both finished work and were looking forward to a nice meal and evening. We were told that the restaurant closed at 10pm so immediately went to the restaurant where we found the buffet food cold, not edible and frankly quite disappointing. Returning to our room the last thing we done was book an early morning call to allow us to check in our luggage where the bag drop closed at 8am. We requested an early morning call at 6am but never got one and was only myself waking at 7:35am and rushing out without a breakfast and even time for a shower that we managed to wake at all!!. I must point out that we are both retired and having to literally run to the bag drop was quite a hard thing to do, we were both dazed and myself pulling muscles in both my legs which lasted 3 days into our holiday. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED that I wrote to the hotel but received no response or apology about this. WOULD NOT USE THIS HOTEL AGAIN. We have always stayed at hotels the night before our flights at much cheaper hotels, but the food and service at the Hilton was the worse we have ever come across. PLEASE MAKE SURE IF YOU BOOK AN EARLY MORNING CALL, USE YOUR PHONE FOR BACK UP AS YOU CANNOT RELY ON HIS HOTEL ! We have certainly learnt our lesson!!
The best thing about my stay was...NOTHING

Night before holiday, stay at the Hilton?
Keith and Diana Hayes, Tunbridge Wells
Because we had an early start we decided to treat ourselves with a stay at the Hilton, Gatwick. Would we do it again? Yes, probably, but we would do things slightly differently perhaps. The room was OK, once we found it! It was seemingly miles away from Reception with endless similar corridors and the room numbering very strange. The alarm clock had been set by the previous incumbent who needed to be up at 3.45am apparently! Unfortunately it does not auto cancel and we nearly resorted to chucking it out the window in desperation. This negated our choice to have a leisurely wake up. The breakfast was not included, but we only found out when we presented ourselves at the breakfast bar. The waiter helpfully suggested we could pay £18.95 each, but we opted for Cafe Rouge in the airport fortunately as this was great and about half the price! We did have an excellent (although pricey £145 for 3) buffet meal with bottle of wine and virgin cocktail; the night before.
The best thing about my stay was...Birthday dinner the night before with our daughter. The staff in the restaurant were excellent.

I have to say my stay at the Hilton London Gatwick was most enjoyable, the service was very good and I had a restful night before my flight the next day. The restaurant I found the food very good and the staff were very helpful, overall I can only give praise to everyone, thank you.
The best thing about my stay was...The service was tops.

I've stayed here several times before for a single night before or after a flight and has always been good, the last time especially so. However this time the room was dated (not had a refurb the others clearly have) but comfy & the breakfast was barely mediocre. I'm just glad the alpharooms rate was B&B otherwise I'd have been spewing if I'd forked out £18.50pp to have the dreadful smoosh they called a buffet breakkie. Just goes to show that the staff & right chef can make all the difference.
The best thing about my stay was...the bed

OK hotel actually in the south terminal but nothing special
Anthony Davis, London
The hotel is part of the \South Terminal complex although currently the most direct route has been diverted. It is a little tired now and room condition is not 100% - mine had no towels and the TV did not work. Not really recommended unless you really like every minute of your sleep as other hotels near the airport providing a shuttle are probably slightly better kept and cheaper.
The best thing about my stay was...No need to hang around and wait for a shuttle bus to get tot he airport.

Just an overnight before heading home
Colin Alexander-Brown, Milton Keynes, UK
Had chosen this hotel as it is so close to the terminal. We had arrived at about 0200 after a 5hour flight home, so decided to overnight at the airport before continuing on home. Perfect location - fairly easy to get to despite building work at the terminal at the mo, but direction signs were spot on. A bit sad that despite prebooking a double room & being an HHonors member they said they didn't have it avail on checkin. I almost felt like an assumption was being made coz I was there with my husband. Firm & polite persistence paid off & the proper room magically appeared. Checkout is quite late which was handy & breakfast was HUGE with a massive choice, so made for a relaxed return home the next day.
The best thing about my stay was...Breakfast

Excellent but friendly service . Facilities really good . So easy to get to and from the train station and the South Terminal. No hassle about catching a shuttle bus .
