I picked this hotel because it was new and very near the city centre and castle. In fact it is only a short walk to both. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfast superb. I would have no hesitation in making a repeat booking.
The best thing about my stay was...Breakfast

Very Good York Hotel
Terry and Sue, Wigan, Lancashire
Our first trip to Hotel 53, having stayed at several other york hotels over the years, and will definitely use it again. Good location in a quieter part of the city but very handy for several bars, restaurants and shops within 5 minutes walk. Has several reserved spaces on a private car park directly across the street which is secured at night. Friendly staff.
The best thing about my stay was...Location and car parking. Quiet rooms.

Basic hotel no air con but fans are available on request, staff friendly and helpful If your there over the weekend ask for a room at the front as there is a working men's club at the rear with loud acts on at night, good base hotel 5 mins from York centre with majority of points of interest with walking distance
The best thing about my stay was...Hotel within walking distance of all places of interest

York races weekend
Excellent hotel. Loved it and would defo go back again. The location was perfect - just a few minutes walk into the centre of York and about a 20 minute walk to the race course. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Good parking facilities. The breakfast was excellent - lots of choice. The room was really clean and comfortable and had the best towels that we have ever had in a hotel before. Yes, it was a little bit tired in places (hole in the settee) but in the scheme of things that was a minor issue and certainly wouldn't put us off going again. It was also incredibly quiet and I thought that we were the only people in the hotel until we went to breakfast and saw how many people there were. Loved it and would highly recommend it.

Totally Value for money
Jane, South Shields
Really suprised with the hotel, 2 mins from "The Shambles" literally. The reception/bar area is very trendy and restaurant for breakfast was lovely, bedroom was clean and just what we needed for a one night stay, only issue was the width of the quilts felt too narrow for the bed, but other than that would go again no problem.

A wonderful place for a relaxing city break
Helen mason, Preston, Lancashire
We stayed at hotel 53 for a city break, were a little worried re parking from previous reviews, however, we arrived on a Friday on race weekend and were immediately given a ticket for the carpark, directly opposite, in a numbered bay, undercover. It did close at 2130, but as the hotel is close to all things we didn't require our car until we left. Checkin was easy, reception staff helpful and informative. Room was ready 2hrs earlier than required checkin time. Room spacious, clean, facilities good, Internet access easily available, shower room lovely, room cleaned as soon as you went out, and no bother if you wanted them to come back. Breakfast, good choice, food hot, no restriction on how much you wanted to eat. Bar area small and comfortable, restaurant at night good choice, reasonably priced, and set menu plan available with wine if preferred. Location central to all ares we required in York. A relaxing stay.
The best thing about my stay was...Reasonably priced, good value.
