Review of Hotel Lilas
bernard nalson, united kingdom
Hotel Lilas is a family-owned, small hotel offering inexpensive, simple, quiet, clean accommodation. It has the usual attachments such as a pool, entertainment, shop etc. but if you intend to spend most of your time in the hotel choose a larger venue. This hotel suits a traveller who intends to spend most of the holiday sightseeing in Tunisia or on the beach. The staff are very courteous and friendly and over a period of two years in which I have stayed there regularly, I am on 1st name terms with many of them. The clientele are mainly from France or Poland but don't let that put you off if you are english-speaking. The hotel is near the end of a cul-de-sac so traffic noise is minimal and is equidistant from the centres of Hammamet and Yasmin Hammamet (10 minutes by taxi) and a short distance from Baraket Sahel where louages can be found to travel anywhere in Tunisia. You can walk onto the beach from the hotel or sunbathe in the grounds around the pool. I have stayed in various hotels in the Hammamet region and I rate this hotel the best value. I have stayed in Hotel Lella Baya in Yasmin Hammamet which is expensive but I would choose Lilas over that any day for the friendliness of its staff and the peaceful ambience of the hotel.
