The hotel had recently been refurbished and had only opened about 3 days before our overnight stay on the way to visiting family, the rooms were a good size and we were impressed with the quality of the bed and bedding that the new owners had provided especially for the £35.00 a night half board we had paid. The hotel sits on the beach front and all the rooms appear to have a sea view with good size balconies. The staff were very friendly and the food was good quality with plenty of choice. There was even a chef on hand to cook certain meats and fish. The entertainment seemed to be mainly aimed at children who seemed to be really enjoying it in fact so much that the adults also got involved and the staff were more than happy with that. We would definitely recommend and would have been more than happy to be staying longer than our one night.
The best thing about my stay was...Excellent value for money

I stayed in the golf trinidad 27th july for i week ... i did request a refurbished room but didn't get one so was in an old fashioned room which was ok as i was only in there to sleep... entertainment is great for kids but is very geared to spanish themes as it is a very spanish hotel...Food was terrible , im not fussy but it was literally the same every night and not very appertising... Ok to stay in but plenty of great cheap resturants to eat in around almeria so self catering is best ... i wouldn't recomend half board or all inclusive and definately request a refurbished rooman email hotel to confirm ... location great as hotel is directly on beach..
The best thing about my stay was...the weather and location

Having stayed in many Roquetas hotels this is clearly in the following pack. Food was OK contrary to reports but the rooms are shabby and the once working kitchen facilities were all disabled apart from the fridge which ran on Arctic or defrost only. In need of a big facelift and more which I thought had been done during last years closure. Staff were nice but reception (or the transfer company) lost my messages and didn't seem to have a system.

my wife and son and i had a very nice 9 day holiday but trust me it was not down to the hotel. we made the best of it, the hotel is very old and dated the rooms are big but the bathrooms are in a right state although the rooms are cleaned everyday my wife noticed they must use the same cleaning water for every room on each floor it stunk of old bleech. the rooms have a fridge for hire at 3 euros per day don`t pay just flick the switch in the fuse box behind the door and bobs your uncle.. do not be fooled by the seaview supplement of 3.5 euros per person per day as all i repeat all rooms have seaviews ..... food - breakfasts not good as the coffee was disgusting nobody had it no fried eggs and a chorizo type sausage lunch and dinner quite good although some things came out cold....entertainment - ok for kids if they are spanish the organizers don`t speak very good english, as for adults forget it non-existant.... health and safety.....side of the pool was damaged an accident waiting to happen pot holes around the solarium area slippery surfaces around kids park loads of kids falling over all the time and nothing done about it..just to let you know i`m english my wife and child are spanish so i see things from both views as a foreigner and a local so i know what i`m talking about ---do not go---

me and my mate andy read bad reviews about this hotel but we still decided to go for it in january 2005.you could have not asked for a better hotel.friendly reception, huge and clean room(sheets cleaned every day),on the beach, went half board and the choice was fantastic, anyone who complains about the food here needs looking at,the food was allways hot and at times to much choice for main meals, starters, and dererts.we could not fault this hotel and it deserves 1 5*rating..well done trinidad and thankyou...russ and andy....

Review of Portabello Hotel, Roquetas, Almeria
maureen e allen, huddersfield/england
The Hotel Portabello was 5*. The furnishings and room service were excellent etc but the food wasn't what I would call 5* . There was everything there that you could want but it just didnt have that certain something. The staff weren't very communicative. - i don't think they could speak english very well but we managed nicely as i speak some Spanish. I would go again. The resort is lovely.

I spent 14 nights in this hotel in last summer and I enjoy it. The rooms are confortable and large. All off them are in front of the beach and in front of one of two big hotel pools. The is good and the weather is excelent. The hotel is very nice for families. The kids love it.
