Shabby Chic?

The hotel has a beautiful facade and impressive entrance. We booked a twin room but were given a suite with a beautiful sea view. The hotel is a bit shabby in places. The spa definitely needs updating. The dining room is elegant but lacked atmosphere as it was nearly empty, despite a good menu at reasonable prices. Having given our room number, we were surprised on leaving the restaurant to be hollered at by the manager asking how we were going to settle our bill! The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choice. Overall a pleasant stay but not sure I would go back.

The best thing about my stay was...

Staying in the Churchill Suite

christmas break at The Imperial

My wife and I have just returned from a very enjoyable 3 night break at the Imperial Hotel. We did not really fancy a food binge so we decided to book bed and breakfast only. The breakfast was beautifuuly cooked and as it was self service was as plentiful as you liked. The dining room is beautiful as is the rest of the hotel. Excellent bar meals are served in the Number 10 Bar although these seem very expensive (nearly £14 for a pizza or a steakburger and chips). The hotel itself is very grand and has a wonderful history for entertaining politicians,Royalty, and famous names from show business over the years. The staff in every department were friendly , efficient and courteous and helped to make our short holiday very memorable.

Traditional hotel with excellent service with a smille

This is one of the archetypal hotels that smacks of tradition, a little worn around the edges but clean and very hospitable. Great seaviews, I loved it. Pool area could do with a lick of paint and lockers a bit hit and miss.

The best thing about my stay was...

Great view, breakfast and service

In need of attention

A 4* hotel with 2* rooms. The room was very tired and desperately in need of refurbishment. Was kept awake all night (and I do mean ALL night) by slamming doors. The hotel should make more effort to keep revel makers separate from those who want a relaxing weekend away. Staff were efficient but really not very helpful. Breakfast was wonderful.

ideal location

asked for sea view but on arrival was put in a back room. cost an extra 60.00 to upgrade to a seaview room. On checkout we were charged £3.50 per night for parking in hotel car park, so that was an extra we had not expected to have to pay. Breakfast was excellant with plenty to choose from.

The best thing about my stay was...

friendly & helpful staff. lovely breakfast

VERY RELAXING STAY

STAYED THIS TIME WITH 2 FRIENDS ON A GIRLS WEEKEND. WE PAYED FOR A PREMIER ROOM FOR ONE NIGHT AND WERE GIVEN A VERY SPACIOUS, CLEAN AND QUIET ROOM WITH 3 SINGLE BEDS AS REQUESTED. THE HOTEL STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY ESPECIALLY THE HOUSEKEEPING STAFF. BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT ALTHOUGH THE EVENING MEAL PRICES WERE TO HIGH SO PROBABLY BETTER TO BOOK WITH THIS INCLUDED. I STAYED TWO WEEKS PRIOR WITH PARTNER AND DAUGHTER AND BOOKED AT THE LOWER RATE FOR A SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS ROOM ALTHOUGH CLEAN AND SPACIOUS WAS A LITTLE NOISY DUE TO AIR CON UNITS LOCATED OUTSIDE. I THINK YOU GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR AT THIS HOTEL.
