Great Hotel

This is a very comfortable hotel with a great pool deck and well located in the middle of the lively/noisy part of St. Jillian"s. Good if like a late night but in our room we had lots of sleep and were not troubled by the noise at all. A small M&S across the street kept us in snacks but the pool deck lunches and choices at breakfast were always good. The Waterbiscuit restaurant was well worth a visit and all the staff were helpful and friendly. There were some minor housekeeping issues which were delt with promptly and professionally. No real negatives and will be happy to return.

The best thing about my stay was...

The pool deck or Waterbiscuit

Okay, but not the best location

This hotel is okay, but having also stayed in the nearby Hilton, in future I would always opt for the Hilton over the Intercontinental. Good points were friendly and helpful staff, good choice of breakfast options and excellent rooftop pool. The negative with this hotel is the location, it is right next to the busy 'strip' meaning it is quite noisy.

The best thing about my stay was...

The rooftop pool.

Very Good experience

just back from a week at the Intercontinental. Very good experience, food was good, room was fine, bathroom was a little tired around the shower but that would be our only small quibble. The staff make this place stand apart from other hotels we have been to. Always smiling and wanting to help. A good selection of restaurants within the hotel and also in the surrounding area. Very busy night clubs just around the corner but we didn't hear a thing from our 10th floor room. Very handy for the rooftop swimming pool and large sunbathing area. We hope to go back to Malta again and would stay at the Intercontinental.

The best thing about my stay was...

the staff

Lovely hotel

Intercontinenal is a lovely hotel in a good location. You are just off the main entertainment street , so it may seems noisy, but get a room facing the garden and it is really quiet. Everthing is near by The rooms were clean and spacious, and all the condiments were replaced daily. there is a small private beach across the street, which is very nice, but gets very busy. The outstanding thing about this hotel is the service. Everyone is very helpful and polite and always willing to help. The breakfast is lovely and the pool is beautiful. Not very deep, but it adequate to swim in and perfect for young children. there is a lovely indoor pool and a massive gym as well. Overall a really nice hotel and would stay there again.

Additional days following our annual timeshare week at the Hotel

This is an outstanding hotel been there ten years in a row decided to book an extra three days following our timeshare week. I was a little concerned when I first arrived at the Hotel with both my reservations to be informed the Hotel had no note of my reservation for the room I had booked with Alpha rooms, they told me to make a further enquiry with reception nearer the end of my timeshare stay. I was most disappointed, the day before I was due to move rooms the Hotel informed me they had no booking in place for me. The staff at the reception seemed very helpful when talking to them face to face I think this was just to appease the situation. I had to call Alpha Rooms by mobile phone they got back to me within 15 minutes and confirmed to me there was a booking made in my name thanks fo your help Michael. I went back to the hotel reception 20 minutes later they then informed me I had a booking, which was a relief to me. The room I assumed I had booked was a Panoramic View Deluxe Room with a request for a sea view, well, the room was supberb, unfortuneately sited in the corner of the building behind some very large trees no sun on the balcony at any time of the day and I was on the Tenth floor, goodness knows how the people in the lower floors coped during their very sunny stay (the trees in my opinion require to be thinned and reduced in height). My daughter booked a three day stay the same week with another agent, she was situated on the fourteenth floor facing a building, at least she got the sun on the balcony at times. I always look forward to my annual stay in Malta thank goodness the weather was a big bonus,if I intend to stay in a room at the Hotel in the future as an extra few days I will certainly be requesting a room away from the internal southwest corner of the Hotel. The staff and dining at the Hotel are excellent as always, I would just like to know who was at fault with the booking situation this was a little disappointing to me at the time.

The best thing about my stay was...

The weather the friendly people the dining out and sight-seeing

Should never go back a second time!

Had a lovely holiday here a couple of years ago but on our return things have changed :( Two problems we found were noise and food. The staff in the breakfast room were no so friendly and chatty as previous. The food was not cooked to a very high standard and that which should have been hot was tepid. The hotel started a special chargeable event of friday nights around the pool area. Our room/balcony faced the pool and at 11.23pm I thought I was being serenaded in my bed!. We did discuss the problems with management, hoping to be constructive in our critism. We did have people near us that had 2 small boys and they couldnt get them to sleep and they were 'horrible' the next day. The rest of the staff in all other aspects of the hotel were fine, friendly and very helpful. Maybe they should train the breakfast people.....

The best thing about my stay was...

It was sunshine that we wanted and we got it

It has changed in 2 years, sadly for the worse

We stayed here 2 years ago and couldn't fault the hotel in anyway. This time was slightly different. Staffing: All the staff from Front of House, Concierge, cleaners and pool waiters were brilliant with all doing a brilliant job. Eating: We only had breakfast at the hotel and the staff all appeared to be non-caring. The chef who cooked the eggs did a bad job, majority of the Hot food was cool and undercooked and the waiting staff didnt really wait. I obtained more coffee/tea for my group as they were not very attentive in their serving. The hotel has music from the Alfresco restaurant in the garden to which to music was too loud and didnt help that the chap couldnt sing. Plus they have introduced a special friday night event (30 euros). They ask that the pool area be cleared from 1600 hrs for their preparation. The pool is on 10th floor and we were on the 13th and could look across to the area. At 11.23pm I recorded the 'noise' (music) on my phone as I felt I had someone in my room playing a saxaphone. Plus it had clashed earlier with the bad singer in the garden (the garden being below our balconies). Hearing both sounds at the same time was awful. Plus we had people with children who were having trouble getting the kids to sleep because of the loudness. I appreciate that they have to make changes and probably bring in more revenue but I would like management to go up to some of the rooms and listen to the level of the music from there.

The best thing about my stay was...

We had plenty of sunshine - something that was missing from the UK.
