very nice hotel
sharon firth, leeds
Really liked the hotel, its location was beautiful with stunning views. The hotel was small and quiet therefore we got a brilliant nights sleep. All the staff we dealt with were very helpful and friendly. The room was quite basic and dated but the size and the huge balcony made up for it and the aircon was good and quiet. I would definately recommend this hotel and will go back

Basic, clean and quiet
Holly Gray, Lincolnshire
The hotel is set on a hill, out the way of the town and a good 10 mins walk from the beach. It enjoys a pleasant setting; we were fortunate to have a pool and sea view - looking in the other direction is a road. Breakfast was basic; cereals, bacon, eggs, beans, tomatoes, toast, and watermelon, yoghurt. We only had a snack there once during the day which was terrible; a Spanish omelette which was basically potatoes and egg fried together. Rooms were basic but clean; the maids came in every day. Portal nous has an interesting arena and plenty of restaurants; not ideal if you want a crazy night out but there are regular buses to other areas along the coast. We had an enjoyable night out in Palmanova but were glad to return to the serenity of Portal Nous!
The best thing about my stay was...Sunshine and a nice pool

Staff very friendly. The room cleaned every day and change of towels, the only thing missing was no kettle and had to rent the mini fridge at €5 per day.If your thinking of booking this hotel ask for 1st floor with a balcony as it has 2 sun loungers .Would book this hotel again the next time i'm in majorca.
The best thing about my stay was...friendly staff and Quiet.

A nice pleasant hotel, a bit dated but clean.
Arrived late on 4th april, no problem with checking in. When investigated hotel the next morning, found a very nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds. The room was clean and we had extra blankets there if we needed. The tv was mainly german channels but who needs tv on holiday! We had asked the barman for tea and found it strange that the he didnt understand(gave us hot milk) but he was however friendly. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food. The gym and spa facilities are at an extra charge of 10 euros plus so did not use them. The bus stop / shops / restaurants are all 5 minute walk away. We would highly recommend the food in The Palm Continental restaurant (next to The Ship restaurant) just down the road.
The best thing about my stay was...Not crowded and location.

Great location, great price, good hotel but could do better.
Lynn Turkington, N.Ireland
Travelling with a friend we requested a twin room with a seaview and got one which was great, rooms facing the back of the hotel seemed smaller and there were also rooms available with a larger balcony so depending on how much time you plan to spend in your room then these would be the best rooms but not sure how much extra for them or just luck of the draw. Hotel has lots of positives, 5 min walk to shops/resturants/supermarket, 10 min walk to beach so good location. Small friendly hotel, staff trying their best to please where possible. Breakfast fine, something for everyones tastes, the coffee however could definately be improved. Room clean, towels changed every day. Nice little pool and terrace area, bar beside. Negatives, fridge in room but cost €5 per day to have key for it, appreciate it is to discorage filling it with beer to drink in room but penalises those who just want to keep a cold bottle of water in the room. 2 litre bottle of water from supermarket 50 cents plus €5 for the fridge is an expensive bottle of water every day! My friend and I both needed an iron one evening, reception said last one had been stolen therefore didn't have one which I don't think is good enough for a 3 star hotel. Its not difficult to have even 1 iron and ironing board in reception, take a deposit if necessary and loan it out for half an hour, its a small hotel so shouldn't be hard to keep track of it. Check out is at 12, we had to wait about an hour for our room when we arrived which is fine, gotta give them a chance to clean the room after someone has departed and you arive. However as we were not leaving till 8.30 pm we asked was it possible to keep our room for longer and were told yes, at a cost of €35 which is roughly what we paid per night so we confirmed the eve before that we'd like to do this and paid our €35. When we returned from the beach and dinner at 7pm on our final day giving ourselves 1.5hrs to shower and pack they informed us that our room had been cleaned and would we mind shower downstairs in pool shower as there were people waiting for our room, we explained that we had paid €35 to keep the room which they said they were aware of so we compromised that we'd be as quick as possible and not dirty the room other than the bathroom. This left a slightly bad end to an otherwise enjoyable stay. All in all its a lovely hotel in a great location that could do just a wee bit better but the positives definately outweighed the few negatives.
The best thing about my stay was...Location

Great rooms, great price
Amy Gregg, Derby
For our group of early 30s, this hotel was perfect, great rooms, plenty of sunloungers, sea view from most of the rooms and no children. There did seem to be a lot of rules regarding eating and drinking, prices varied, as did whether or not you were allowed to eat or drink by the pool. The hotel is nice and quiet, which may not suit if you are looking for a lot of nightlife, there are only a few places to eat and drink nearby, and they are fairly expensive and close early. However, for the price, an unbeatable hotel
The best thing about my stay was...adult only hotel and swimming pool

HOTEL 3 STAR FOOD/BAR 2 STAR
A TODD, BARNSLEY
THE BEDROOM WAS IN NEED OF REFURBISHMENT ALTHOUGH IT WAS VERY CLEAN. THE BALCONY WAS HUGE AND WOULD BE A GREAT SUN TRAP IN WARMER WEATHER, IT WAS FURNISHED WITH TABLE AND CHAIRS AND SUNBEDS. THE VIEW OF THE VILLAGE AND BAY WAS GREAT AND WAS ALSO OVERLOOKING THE POOL. I WOULD NOT HAVE LIKED BEING IN ANY ROOM OTHER THAN SEAVIEW. AS THERE WERE ONLY TWO OTHER PEOPLE IN THE HOTEL APART FROM MY FRIEND AND I, THE BAR AREA WAS CLOSED AND POORLY STOCKED. THE DINING ROOM WAS PLEASANT AND CLEAN BUT THE FOOD SELECTION WAS POOR FOR BREAKFAST (NO OTHER MEALS TAKEN). PORTALS NOUS IS LOVELY BUT THERE ARE LOTS OF HILLS AND STEPS SO THE MONTEMAR WOULD NOT NECESARILY BE SUITED TO THOSE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS.
The best thing about my stay was...THE VIEW WAS FANTASTIC FROM SEA VIEW WINDOWS AND BALCONY

I would recommend this hotel for...
Jane , London
If you are looking for a relaxing quiet holiday Portal Nous is perfect. The hotel staff we found to be friendly. Food ok but not for a UK market. We ate out every evening which was our choice. The pool needed to be cleaned but apart from that I would recommend this hotel.

Loved the hotel, staff were very friendly, tried hard to speak to you even if their English was limited, lovely kept hotel, rooms clean and tidy, pool area lovely with pool restaurant, food varied in the evening though it could occasionally get busy, bar in the evening very good, staff couldn't do enough for you, admittedly not a lot to do for young children. Portal Nous lovely place to go to, Marina intersting if you like boats (my husband does!!) Would go back as we enjoyed our holiday there, highly recommend it.

Review of 'MONTEMAR'
Miss Isabel Thornton, Manchester
My other half and I spent a fabulous 7 days at the Montemar in September 2005. The staff were very warm and welcoming, breakfast and dinner were splendid and certainly not in short supply. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard daily and I have no complaints about the towels. Yes, some decor was slightly out-dated but this did not matter. I would recommend using the car hire company which operate through the hotel. We found them to be extremely efficient and reliable. The pool and bar area were refreshing relaxing and quiet as well as being impeccably clean. The centre of Portal Nous, the beach and Puerta Portals is an enjoyable 10 minute stroll away. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to enjoy Portal Nous in a comfortable, friendly and affordable hotel!
