Resort Info

Agadir

Agadir is a modern city in Morocco, south of Marrakech and is a popular midway point for cruises heading to the Canary Islands. The unique location, sandwiched between the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara and the Atlantic, gives this city a very special feel. Although tourism is important, the city is also a bustling sea port.

It was completely rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 1960 and now draws thousands of tourists every year with its sandy beaches and many attractions. The thriving city offers much to see and do including the municipal market, small zoo and historical sites such as the remains of a small fortress. The city is small enough to explore on foot but there is also a good local bus service.

The city is also a great base for exploring the surrounding area including desert safaris and camel treks. Marrakech is three hours away on a coach but certainly worth a visit. North of Agadir are some wonderful, tranquil beaches. Surfing is a popular activity due to the rolling Atlantic waves. There are also some spectacular golf courses worthy of a visit.

Agadir offers the best of a city break combined with a relaxing beach holiday. Great for couples and families.

8/10 Great

28 January 2016

Excellent Room size and facilities for a 3*

The hotel met our needs fully (group of 3 lads) it had the football on downstairs on a projector, but there wasnt much more entertainment there when we went. The pool is very very cold so if your looking to use that ideally go in the summer months when it is hotter! We went in the winter the temperature was around 23 degrees at peak, the pool was very cold at this temperature. Has all your usual amenities, we asked for an Iron and this was provided promptly although i did have to wait a few days for fresh towels after asking. I asked 3 times actually, the receptionist is usually helpful but sometimes they do brush you off a bit. Its a good budget option as a place to stay the night, ensuite and good solid beds, very comfy. We had room 501 with the view of the Agadir sea and the god country king mountain. The elevator and air con can be a bit dodgy! You can get out on to the balcony through the window if your feeling adventurous lol The key card is used to activate the electrics so you cant leave your phone in the hotel on charge etc. if you wanted to. Overall i would recommend intouriste as a good place to stay when visiting Agadir. The walk people say is only 15 mins from the town centre is more like 30-40 mins at normal pace depending on what route you take. Beware of dogs at night time, they are okay during the day. DO NOT pay the driver over 20DH to go to the beach or mcdonalds etc. as it is cheaper on the meter but none of them seem to use the meter. Also dont be surprised if they ask for double tariff at night. they can ask all they like, do not pay over 20DH. Don't be surprised if the taxis are falling apart, one of our taxi rides were particularly memorable as we had to get out and push it backwards as the reverse gear was broken! haha! Enjoy your stay and enjoy Agadir, Morocco is a beautiful country for sure! There are 2 little shops which are alot cheaper than city centre shops around the corner, one beside the atlantic palm hotel opposite the gallerie metropole shop near this hotel. and one in the hotel a little down the road, there is also a ATM near here and a 24h restaurant and money exchange bureau inside the hotel next to the ATM, they offer good rates, but you will require your passport to exchange money. the supermarket here is behind the resturant, a hard spot but just ask someone! Hope this helped!

The best thing about my stay was...

10/10 Amazing

10 July 2010

Week at the Intouriste in July

Just got back from an amazing week in Agadir. The Residence Intouriste is a stunning hotel and should be higher than a 3*. Good entertainment, good facilities, friendly staff and great value for money. It's about a 10 minute walk down to the beach and about 15 minutes walk to the town centre but you could just get a red taxi for 20DH (about £1.50). The hotel is full of people from all over the world, mainly moroccan but we met other couples from Britain and made friends really quickly. I would recommend this hotel to anybody and Agadir is definitely somewhere if you're after something other than your usual Spain, Turkey or Greece holiday.
