Fantastic hotel

From checking in to checking out the hotel staff at The Old Ship were fantastic and very helpful. I've attended several events at the hotel before but never stayed, I was so glad that I did. My room was lovely and clean, it was also much larger than I expected, with plenty of storage space too. I didn't eat Breakfast at the hotel, but did eat during the evening at an event, and I have to say that the food has always been good, well prepared and presented and portions are ideal, bar prices are reasonable too. The hotel is in a great location, right on the seafront and within view of The Pier. I would definitely not hesitate to stay there again next time I am in the city.

Just what was needed

I booked this hotel last minute for myself and my wife to attend a family party in Brighton. Check-in staff were polite and helpful. Our room was a bit dated but comfortable. A problem with the radiator was promptly dealt with. The free wifi worked well and the bar service was very good. The lift was a little claustrophobic but worked effectively enough. In all, the Hotel fulfilled all our requirements and also enjoyed a prime location on Brighton sea front. Didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on food quality

The best thing about my stay was...

Very polite and helpful staff

Lovely hotel, close to all amenities

The staff were very helpful and polite, breakfast was beautiful with a extensive choice of food. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, bar a little expensive.

wonderful experience

Just back after 3 really enjoyable days in the Old Ship. We had a slight problem the first night with noise as we couldn't close the window. However when we brought our complaint to the reception staff they immediately upgraded us to a beautiful sea view room. We met so many truly professional and friendly staff that it would be unfair to name any in particular. We will definitely be coming back.

The best thing about my stay was...

friendly staff and sea view

Friends Out On A Night To Remember

The hotel was relatively easy to find- even by using Apple maps from the station. It is right by the seafront and in a great location if one wants to enjoy the great nightlife. We basically just needed a clean hotel room with clean and comfortable beds to crash on after a heavy night. The staff were helpful and we didnt encounter any problems. There are no bouncers outside the hotel unlike Premier Inn I think and a great experience.

The best thing about my stay was...

No complaints

Serves a purpose

Hotel was good for location as very central and a good base for Brighton pier and towncentre. Reception staff were lovely and quite helpful an we even got a complimentary upgrade to one of their best rooms. Downside is that it is advertised as a 4 star which is a bit of a stretch - 3 star max! Hottest day of 2012 so far and there was no ac - there was a ceiling fan that spewed thick black dust all over the bed! Wall paper is peeling from the walls, pillow cases were stained and the bathroom was tired. All in all it served a purpose and was livable!

two days stay

Common areas were excellent, as were the staff - very polite and helpful. However although our beds were comfortable, the windows needed painting - the paint had nearly pealed off completely on the lower half of the very large sash windows. The bathroom shower did not stay up and had to be held. Excellent breakfast and the manager of the dining room was very professional.

The best thing about my stay was...

breakfast and waking up in morning looking out at the sea

Miss

We thought that this hotel was wonderful and a complete bargin through Alpharooms - we only paid £30 for a Saturday night! Amazing!! The hotel was very clean and we had a lovely view over Brighton Pier too which was a complete bonus. We had a lovely weekend in Brighton and I will be returning to Alpharooms to hopefully find some more bargins!
