6/10 Good

Good if you want a central base rather than a romantic stay.

We were transferred to the Visconti because our room had been cancelled at the Donna Camilla Savelli in the Trastevere District. I had specifically booked the DCS in the quiet Trastevere District as a romantic surprise for my husband's 40th birthday. I have issues with Alpharooms as far as the cancellation and choice of alternative accommodation issued is concerned, BUT having said that, the Visconti is a good hotel if you are looking for a central base close to Vatican City. We found it very easy to walk everywhere. The staff were very friendly and I loved the choice of continental breakfast. Our room was very small and basic however and we were unable to be upgraded.

Fabulous short break!

We stayed at the Visconti Palace for 2 nights in March and it was excellent. Room was a good size and decor was very nice - very modern style hotel throughout. Very nice cocktails in the bar as well! :) Can imagine the roof terrace is lovely in summertime, bit chilly when we were there although it didnt stop us taking a coffee up there! In easy walking distance of all main landmarks (except the Colosseum which is a bit too far) if you're happy to wander, and pass many nice coffee shops and cafes along the way. Quiet area of the city so nice and peaceful. Only slightly disappointing aspect was the breakfast, -which to be honest is good if you like lots of fruit etc. but if you want something heavier/hot selection is a little limited. - Perfectly reasonable for a continental hotel though. Would highly recommend and would definately stay again if we ever go back to Rome, as have very fond memories of the hotel.

EXCELLENT HOTEL!!!

We had an excellent stay at Visconti Palace. Reception staff extremely helpful & friendly. Rooms very modern, clean towels & bed linen every day. Breakfast consisted of cheese, ham, cereals, yogurts, tea & coffee. Hotel centrally located. We walked everywhere, hotel ideally located for Piazza Navona & Vatican. Agreed with previous review great bars in Piazza Navona, we also tried the bar with canadian flag outside, cheap beer & wine. Thoroughly enjoyable stay at Visconti Palace & thought Rome was a fanastic city

A very good hotel

We thought this hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The rooms were very clean and it was fresh bed linen every day.The drinks out of the mini bar were quite expensive but Rome is very expensive anyway. We thought it was in a nice quiet position and you can easily walk to all the tourist attractions. The main bus station is very close by as well.A few tips for Rome-water etc is expensive. There are drinking water fountains all over the city and it's safe to drink.Nothing seems to be labelled up pricewise,so always ask first.Always check your bills as a few times,we got charged different prices to the menu.Stay away from the restaurants near the Spanish Steps-they're very expensive and the staff are not to friendly. We can recommend the Chianti restaurant near the Trevi Fountain-they do great salad! Our favourite bar was a small bar just off Piazza Navona-it's got a small Canadian flag outside. The owner is Italian but was bought up in Canada. It attracts alot of Americans but it's always busy and it's the cheapest beer in town.4 euros a pint!
