The best of the best
June , Birmingham
All you need for a really great holiday, with the facilities to everyone of all ages, very friendly helpful staff for who nothing is too much trouble, entertainment for the children and great music nights for us all, our second time there in less than a year and already looking forward to the next one!
The best thing about my stay was...The lovely surrounding and facilities for every age,

Old Hotel with great pool area and gardens
We enjoyed our week at the Yellow Alvor. On arrival the Hotel was very disappointing from the outside and the entrance road into it was off putting to say the least. The rooms were dated but ok. The real selling point for this hotel is the Pool area and gardens - there is loads of space around the pool and it is kept spotlessly clean. The food choice in the restaurant wasn't great but there was lots of fresh fruit and salads every day. One major downside is that the Hotel Bar has not enough seating for residents and people are encouraged to sit outside which is not ideal. There is not much to do in the evenings and a taxi is required to get into central Alvor
The best thing about my stay was...Sitting by the Pool

Great Hotel at right price
Dave Thompson, West Midlands
This was our 3rd visit to this hotel (group of 12 ) Again we found it to be fine. The bedrooms clean and a reasonable size, cleaned each day. The food was Ok and there was always a good choice with Fish and Meats. Our only complaint would be no fried eggs in the morning. They have 2 pools 1 indoor and a very large one outside. If we had a complaint this year as the weather was not good the lounge area is far to small.
The best thing about my stay was...Pleasant and helpful staff and although not in Alvor an easy 15min walk and a 3.5 euro Taxi back.

Nothing like a 4* hotel
seasand travellors aged 55-65, UK
Just returned home from a week's all inclusive 27 September to 4 October 2014. After arriving very late in the evening on 27th & tired after a long day travelling we (my wife & myself) went straight to our room & first impression, the room was very dated & basic although clean. We found during our stay, the hotel had many problems, problems that were a reflection of the managers attitude towards the guests & his staff & lack of leadership. Firstly the good points: - Although the bedroom was very dated, it was cleaned everyday & bed linen changed daily. Our room overlooked the gardens & pool area giving a very pleasant outlook from our balcony. The hotel was situated within a 20min walk from the centre of the village of Alvor. Overall the hotel was in a quiet & peaceful position within the resort of Alvor. Sadly the bad points: - One of hygiene was our major concern, the corridor (on the same level as the reception) that led to our room was dark & dirty, the carpet looked as if it had never seen a cleaner. Vomit stains on the carpet that looked as if it had been their for months. The spiral stair well leading down the gardens were also filthy dirty & looked as if they had never seen a mop & bucket. The gents toilet & changing room that was directly linked to the indoor pool area was never cleaned during our weeks stay & two of the ceiling lights were not working & just hanging from the ceiling. I dread to think what was transferred from the urinal to the swimming pool via peoples feet as their was no foot dip prior to entry ??. The staff in the dining room would change the table cloth every time a table became vacant but used the same placemat, so what was the point in changing the tablecloth as the placemats were never cleaned, in fact during our week's stay the placemats were never changed. The pool area was never cleaned & the sun beds were broken & filthy dirty. Every evening when the guests vacated the pool area it was then inundated with seagulls using the pool to clean themselves & leaving their calling card on the surrounding tiled area & sun beds, neither of which was ever cleaned. The food was very poor in quality & presentation, If you did not get to the restaurant when it opened, your food was invariably cold. What said everything about the food was seeing those that could afford to, going down to the village to eat, some people eat out almost every day. Finally our overall opinion of the hotel is that it has a missed opportunity as it could be an exceptional hotel due to it's situation on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Alvor. It needs a change of manager to one with vision & aspiration's. Would we return to Alvor (YES) would we return to Yellow Alvor Garden (Definitely NOT).
The best thing about my stay was...Location & pleasent outlook

amazing hotel and alvor is beautiful
This hotel is amazing and we'll worth the money your paying for. I have been here with my friend for the 4th time we went back last week. Our room is always clean and tidy . The staff are very good and helpful calling taxi's when needed. The pool area Is clean and tidy, swimming pool is lovely we just miss the jacuzzi there apart from that it's fabulous and food is lovely help your self at lunch and dinner and breakfast and bar snacks are very nice too. Most of the time i ask for views and we get a room with that. Its about 10 minute walk to the town and taxi's are cheap to get if needed beach about 10 minutes in car lovely beach. look forward to going bk by the end of the year. If your thinking to stay with family and children recommend highly.
The best thing about my stay was...The swimming pool was lovely and the rooms very clean also the evening entertainment amazing singers.

Lovely holiday in Alvor,
b scott, york
The hotel overall is very dated. The gardens and pool area are lovely and well looked after. The breakfast was acceptable but typical of most hotels we have been to in the past whether be a three or four star hotel. The rooms are clean and we were lucky having a lovely pool view. Overall I feel we had a good hotel for the price we paid and the staff overall were very friendly.
The best thing about my stay was...Pool area in a nice quiet location

It was a very good stay in the yellow alvor hotel. However, the hotel is a little bit far from the beach. Is very good for families.

very enjoyable and relaxing hotel
Hilary O'reilly, Downpatrick
The service by all the staff was excellent. Breakfast was excellent and suited to all dietary needs. Hotel was a lovely distance out from town and a lovely walk in and out. The pool was the best setting we have had on any holiday so far, it was clean, tidy, great space around both pools. Only down fall was the size of the bedrooms, we felt it was small and patio area was also very small.
The best thing about my stay was...pool area and lovely food and friendly and helpful staff

Basic, busy but nice enough
Emily Wheeler, Oxford
Rooms very basic but clean. Breakfast was extensive and nice but had to put up with alot of tinned foods like mushrooms. Not the best but lots of choice for all. Bar was always too busy to get to. Pool was lovely. Service behind pool bar was very slow but no rush anyway on holiday! Nice men behind bar! Very clean everywhere. Quiet at night. Close to town of alvor and a safe enough walk.
The best thing about my stay was...The pool

Great, no frills but no frills needed
Andrew Cowderoy, Preston
We stayed here when it was the Ibirohotel in 2005 and it was really good. This time it looked a little tatty and in need of a coat of paint but otherwise excellent. Young staff member at the pool bar was rude but then teenagers can be lol. Same evening entertainment too!! We would definitely stay again.
The best thing about my stay was...Quiet

Not 4 star, 3 at best
Joe O'Kane, Town
Booked b&b. Breakfast wasn't great, basic & repetitive. We ate lunch in the hotel on 1st day, 15 euro each. Didn't use the hotel, other than breakfast, for food again - quality and value for money were poor. Rooms were comfortable but tired, flaking paint on balcony tiles, chipped furniture. Staff not always available, but most of them were friendly and helpful. Had trouble getting boiled water & heating baby food for my 9 month old son. Pool was great. Rooms were cleaned daily and very well. Probably wouldn't go back, other hotels of better standard in area.
The best thing about my stay was...Pool & garden area

Very impressed with this hotel
John Devlin, Dublin Ireland
We were very impressed with this hotel. All staff were very friendly and we stayed bed and breakfast. We had a very good selection for breakfast and we also found it very quiet at night. It is about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Alvor but it only costs €3.90 in a taxi. We will be definately going back. When you go to the pool you dont need to leave towels on the beds are there are plenty of beds for everyone. Their is also a lovely bar beside the pool. There is also a free bus to take you to Alvor and the beach 4 times a day.
The best thing about my stay was...A nice walk to the centre of Alvor and very friendly staff.

Not up to All Inclusive standards
Lynda Bunch, Suffolk
Beautiful pool, without which this hotel would be a 2 or 3 star hotel.Food was repetitive and " miss matched "on several nights and recycled from one meal to anotherAll Inclusive was not as it should be,only alcholic drinks from 8 - midnight and when you went to the bar to get one you were made to feel like a 2nd class citizen.I did notice that the people on half board or b&b were served at their table!!Bar staff leave a lot to be desired and were downright rude 90% of the time.Repairs were not carried out on our room even after being reported 3 times. In the end i just gave up.Noise from other rooms was terrible and i was kept awake by our next door neighbours television on all hours or by noisy lovemaking which souded like they were in the room with us!!!Our air con didn,t work so i was shattered by the end of our 6 days holiday. It has put me off going abroad again
The best thing about my stay was...Leaving to come home!!

Lovely Hotel, but not all inclusive!
ellow Alvor Gardens Hotel This hotel is set in beautiful grounds with ponds full of fish and some turtles, all of whom enjoy feeding time!! The staff here are all wonderful. There are not many staff in the restaurant and bars but they certainly work very hard when the customers are there. During our ten day stay here there were no more than 40 guests in the hotel at any one time until the last weekend when it was Portugal’s national bank holiday. The hotel filled up for the weekend but the staff told us they would all be gone again on Monday morning! The all inclusive option doesn’t seem to have been fully embraced by the hotel. Being told that you cannot have a spirit and mixer until 8.00pm is almost like taking your tee-total mother on holiday with you! What do you want a drink before 8 o’clock for!???!! Very regimented on the rest of the AI also. Snacks available between 11.am and 12pm, and again between 3pm and 4pm! Ice creams available between 12pm and 1pm and again between 4pm and 5pm. So don’t get hungry or need cooling down at any other times, you may be disappointed!! Theses snacks and ice creams were supposed to be available from the poolside bar. That was if the staff were available to open the bar and keep it open longer than 4.00pm. The staff also had to help out at lunchtime in the restaurant some days so you were left waiting to be served at the bar for 15 or 20 minutes at a time. The pool area itself was well maintained, especially around 2.00pm most days when the guy on the sit on mower decided to break the silence by cutting the grass…….again! Not many sunbeds, but again at that time it wasn’t a problem. The evening/lobby bar was small but considering the number of guests it never got full! Jose, the barman, took at least 24 hours to get to know, but once you made the effort so did he. Then he treated you like old friends and kept you entertained and lubricated. (Try the black Russian Cocktail, beautiful and alcoholic!!) The restaurant was a good size, but when the hotel was full everyone struggled with just one juice machine and two hot drinks machines, all tucked in the one area of the dining room. We managed but that was only because the crowds were there for two days!! I wouldn’t like to have to fight for coffee and juice every morning. There was always something edible, although the choice was limited but then again so was the number of guests. We managed to put on weight so it couldn’t have been bad!! The rooms were a decent size, but could do with a little bit of redecoration and updated furniture. Clean towels every day!!! Amazing! The maids were also very pleasant. Alvor itself is beautiful and is a 20 minute stroll, or a 10 minute power walk. The beach is lovely and clean and if you walk along it far enough you find the caves, and the scenary is stunning. I would recommend this hotel, but not as all inclusive. One of the reception staff did mention that he didn’t think the hotel would be offering this option next year anyway, as both the guests and the hotel was struggling to cope with it. Great hotel, great staff, great location.

good clean hotel; rooms cleaned everyday; staff friendly and helpful we went early season and was very quite but thats what we wanted! hotel next door was shut and would enhance holiday experience; walk into Alvor was 20mins not 10 as others say and Alvor is hilly!
